Humanity first.
Dignity always.
Vanguard Humanity is an international humanitarian association committed to principled assistance, local leadership and recovery.
We seek to work alongside communities affected by conflict, displacement and disaster, recognising their knowledge, agency and ability to shape their own futures.
Communities are partners in recovery, not passive recipients.
Our founding philosophy places local knowledge, human dignity, accountability and meaningful collaboration at the centre of humanitarian action.
What drives us forward.
Our Mission
To support communities affected by humanitarian crises through principled assistance, locally informed collaboration and approaches that connect immediate relief with longer-term recovery.
Our Vision
A world where people affected by crisis can live with dignity, rebuild stability and shape their own futures, supported by stronger communities and local capabilities.
Meet Our Leadership
Our leadership brings together international development and humanitarian expertise in social protection, cash-based assistance, financial inclusion and locally informed programming.
Eloïse Roos
Eloïse Roos is a development and humanitarian specialist, and has spent more than 10 years working alongside communities, governments and partners in over 15 countries across Africa and the Middle East.
She has worked with the European Commission and Mercy Corps. She has also led programmes funded by the EU, USAID, AfDB and AFD. One of these was a USAID programme in Mauritania that supported more than 10,000 vulnerable people through cash assistance, training and social services.
Her expertise covers social protection, gender equality, financial inclusion and health. What drives her, though, is a simple belief: lasting change starts with communities themselves.
As Founder and Managing Director, Eloïse will lead Vanguard Humanity's development and put that experience into action, with a strong commitment to safeguarding, accountability and women's empowerment.
Anthony John Etim
Anthony John Etim is a senior Cash-Based Interventions (CBI) specialist with over 18 years of experience leading multipurpose cash assistance (MPCA), market-based programming, financial inclusion, digital currencies and blockchain programmes, and inter-agency coordination in complex humanitarian and conflict-affected contexts across Africa and Asia. He is a founding member of Vanguard Humanity.
He has proven expertise in co-chairing Cash Working Groups (CWGs), conducting feasibility studies and market assessments, developing Minimum Expenditure Baskets (MEB) and transfer values, and establishing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for cash delivery.
Anthony has also demonstrated success in liaising with government authorities, UN partners, NGOs, and private-sector financial service providers to ensure accountable, risk-managed, and inclusive cash-based interventions.
